Ascent of the Moth is a short documentary which explores three young black male artists of different disciples and seeks to subvert assumed representations of black masculinity through interviews and their work (poetry, dance and fabric dying).
The film came about as a response to the play Sessions by Ifeyinwa Frederick and similarly delves into the vulnerability of the men in the documentary and the complexities of being a black male artist personally and in how the world views you. We believe the film is a conversation starter and unique in its approach to shining a light on the complexities of black masculinity through art.
